History of the language school „zum Ehrstein".

  • 15th January 1999: Jutta Volderauer founds the school in “Haus zum Ehrstein”, a charming and time honoured building in the historic city centre. In three rooms covering 120m² (with creaking wooden floors and crooked walls), she starts teaching to the chimes of the Freiburg Minster. Right from the beginning we had a special flair.

  • 2000: In 2000 we begin a cooperation project with an agency in Shanghai, whereby 60 Chinese students come for a year to learn German in order to be able to study in Germany.

  • April 2002: Bursting at the seams due to our expansion, we move to Erbprinzenstrasse. Here we enjoy eight bright and attractive classrooms covering 500m2. As if that isn’t enough, we can boast of a penthouse terrace. The perfect place to relax in our long summers. Jutta Volderauer and her team are overjoyed.

  • October 2002: We cater for foreign languages: English, French, Italian and Spanish.

  • April 2005: We extend our services to cater for Arabic, Japanese and Turkish. We are becoming ever more international.

  • Spring 2007: We are awarded a licence as Telc examination centre.

  • By 2008: we cater for 900 students from over 30 countries and we teach 20 languages. That’s reason enough to celebrate!

  • January 2009: We celebrate our 10th anniversary.
